Hublot F1 King Power Suzuka Watch

Alpina Startimer Classic Automatic Chrono Watch

WTF Alpina? Seriously, is this a joke? Does this watch suffer from hereditary dwarfism? Can you even call a 44mm wide watch a dwarf? Oh, I am sorry, I meant "little watch." This isn't just a mistake, this is horological abuse.

Do I need to even explain to anyone why or how the hour, minute, and chronograph seconds hands are small beyond excuse? Maybe this is a joke. Maybe Alpina is just messing with me. I can see them in Geneva giggling like 7th grade pranksters. "E-mail it to Ariel, make sure he thinks it is serious! Huh hu, he is gonna flip!" It wouldn't be the first time...

The watch dial even has a pulsograph for measuring pulse. Pretty worthless with those hands. The chronograph seconds hand only goes so far as the start of the hour indicators. WHY?! Screw it, I don't even want to be nice or attempt to figure this out anymore. If you are the person who designed this dial then please never be in the same room with me. You not only embarrass an otherwise decent brand, but you display with incredible clarity just how inept you are a watch or industrial designer. Go back to making dollhouses. Repugnant. This watch gives me vertigo and makes we want to give up analog watches altogether and buy a digital Casio.

Omega Z-33 Spacemaster Watch

For 2012 Omega returns to its tradition of offering very cool high-tech quartz pilot watches. The Z-33 is of course offered in honor of the famed Speedmaster X-33 from several years ago. Limited in production, the X-33 is now a highly lusted after collector's item. While a new watch, the Spacemaster Z-33 is produced in honor of some very important historic Replica Omega Watches.

More images will come soon, but for now you can see that the most iconic aspect of the Z-33 is the case. This is the same case design as the original Speedmaster Alaska Project watch. It was a Speedmaster designed to survive extreme cold temperatures (such as those on Mars). The version of the Alaska project watch with this case I don't think was ever produced. Though it did exist and it is very cool. The case later showed up on the Omega Flightmaster watches.

I also believe that it was the first watch case made out of titanium. It is thus fitting that the new Spacemaster Z-33 watch case is also in titanium. I will offer more tech specs when I have them available to discuss the dimensions of the watch. The case is not super large, but the case might appear that way. It is a thick piece, and very interesting looking on the wrist. The thick metal case was originally designed to protect the movement.

Like the X-33 the Z-33 will have a special thermo-compensated Swiss quartz movement. Inside the Z-33 is the Omega quartz calibre 5666 multi-function analog/digital movement. Until the X-33 with revolving text, this model has the LCD screens in an easier to read horizontal format. The special red on black screens (with backlighting) offer superior legibility.

Large titanium pushers offer the ability to easily operate the various functions that include alarm, perpetual calendar, chronograph, timer, and second time zone. The dial depsite the LCD screens is very legible and modern with a classic tint. The Spacemaster dial has SuperLumiNova all over it for night viewing as well.

This is very much a pilot watch. It has only 30 meters of water resistance, but that should be fine for most people using it. Rolex Sky-Dweller Watch

Each year at the Baselworld watch and jewelry show the most anticipated news is what behemoth watch brand Rolex Replica Watches will release. This is a quizzical thing because what Rolex announces is often anything but revolutionary. Still the successful and closed watch brand seems to excite their loyalists with the new creations each year - often times small steps in anticipated directions. Rarely does Rolex offer something totally new - especially a new model or complication. Oddly enough - both of these things happened for 2012.

Rolex typically releases mere line extensions and small features updates (if that). Typical "exciting"announcements include new dial colors, perhaps a new strap, or something offered in a new material. The major new release for 2012 is the Sky-Dewller, an extremely rare new Rolex model, with a new movement, and with a never before seen complication for the modern brand. Say hello to an annual calendar. Rolex sure didn't invent it, but it seems revolutionary when included in one of their watches.

The Sky-Dweller is a mixed bag for watch lovers. On the one hand it offers some true Rolex innovations. A new product family with a new movement, and features that people have been wanting from Rolex for a long time. On the other hand the dial of the Sky-Dweller is... an acquired taste to say the least. The aesthetic problem in my opinion is the large exposed asymmetric GMT disc. It just looks misplaced on a Rolex watch dial. Functional? Perhaps. Sexy and alluring? Not at all. A hand would have sufficed. Just ask any GMT Master. Plus, the hands are a bit too short and too skeletonized for the watch's own good. Lume is too sparse and the skeletonized hands might be more trouble than they are worth.

If you can get over the dial then you have a lot to love. This is not only the first Rolex watch with an annual calendar, but it also includes a centrally mounted GMT hand. All operated with the "Ring Command" bezel. That's right, the Sky-Dweller bezel is part of how you operate and adjust the watch. The crown of the watch only pulls out in one position. The fluted bezel has three positions. You turn it and based on the position you can adjust the date, local time, or reference time via the crown. It is a wonderfully elegant solution that we haven't seen before.

The GMT hand is a disc in the middle of the dial and uses the red and white arrow as an index to tell the reference time. Other Rolex GMT models uses a hand to do this and a scale around the periphery of the watch. The system isn't super attractive, but it is highly functional. Rolex tired to make the transition from the dial to the disc as "luxurious" as possible with the polished ring. Nevertheless, you just can have that exposed dial and the Rolex aesthetic work together nicely in my opinion.

In addition to the GMT complication the Sky-Dweller has an annual calendar system that Rolex calls their SAROS annual calendar. The mechanism offers the date and month. The date is easily seen under the magnifier lens on the sapphire crystal at 3 o'clock. The month is told via darkened rectangles located outside of the hour indicator ring. On these watches you can see that "8 o'clock" is filled in black. That means the current month would be August. Only at the end of February do you need to adjust the calendar. If you want to purchase the Master Grande Tradition Gyrotourbillon 3 now, you have just three chances and it comes with two other timepieces. It is sure to be a rather heavy investment. The set is the Jubilee Collection and sure to make your watch collection proud by angering your bank account.

Though in reality it is a two-axis tourbillon in a spherical shaped cage that is mystifying to view in action. The case is so delicate that most people who attempt to assemble the watch will break it. It is light and made from titanium and new for the gyrotourbillon 3, it has a spherical-shaped balance wheel inside of it. Imagine that. The ball-shaped hairspring is a first for wrist watches, and truly completes the spheroid theme of this uber complication. No doubt it is clearly visible on the dial.
